Statistics – some people think numbers are boring, charts and graphs dreadful. However, statistics have their purpose and when we look at the larger picture we can identify patterns and reasons behind those patterns. Statistics bring out the not-so-obvious in every day numbers.

Last week we had a chance to create 2 statistics pages on distracted driving and motorcycle accidents. We shared them with you on Google+ and you responded.

Although numbers alone don’t say much, the trends and changes they identify are often alarming. Looking at distracted driving statistics we saw a pattern of reckless behavior by adults who admit that they shouldn’t use a cell phone while driving despite doing the opposite. Motorcycle injury trend revealed that the overall injury rate is down despite more people being injured. The numbers also painted a disturbing picture of drunk motorcycle riding and the outcomes.
